The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) has inaugurated its Third Audit Committee as part of efforts to strengthen transparency, accountability, and good corporate governance.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the GMA Head Office.
In his opening remarks, the Director-General of the GMA, Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali (Naval Captain, Rtd.), expressed appreciation to the outgoing Audit Committee for their dedicated service and valuable contributions. He described the Committee as a key pillar in enhancing the Authority’s operational and financial oversight.
Dr. Kamal-Deen Ali ( Naval Capt. Rtd.) encouraged the incoming Committee to build on the strong foundation laid by their predecessors and assured them of Management’s full cooperation as they support the Authority in delivering its mandate.
Mr. Alhassan, who represented the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, commended the outgoing Audit Committee for setting a high standard and encouraged the new Committee to emulate their dedication and impact. He further reminded members of their mandatory statutory roles, emphasizing the importance of diligently reviewing management reports and monitoring reports with financial implications.
In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Baidoo, the newly elected chair of the Audit Committee assured Management of the Committee’s commitment to teamwork and effective collaboration in the discharge of its responsibilities.
The Authority expressed gratitude to the outgoing members and warmly welcomed the new Audit Committee, wishing them success in the discharge of their duties.
