Director General
Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi

Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi is a solicitor with over sixteen (16) years of working experience both in the private and public sectors. Until his appointment as the Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority in March 2019, he worked with Sory @ Law, a law firm located at East Legon, Accra as a practicing lawyer. He also worked briefly with the National Commission for Civic Education as a research officer. Mr. Alonsi holds a barrister-at-law certificate from the Ghana School of Law, Accra, and a Dip. Ed/BA (Hons) in History at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

After the undergraduate program, he enrolled in the University of Cape Coast to pursue an M. Phil in History in 1998 but upon his admission into Ghana School of Law in 1999, he had to truncate the M. Phil program at the end of the first year of the Program. Before his admission into the University of Cape Coast for this aforementioned program, Thomas K. Alonsi was a History tutor at the Sandema Senior Secondary in the Upper East Region where he also doubled up as a HouseMaster. Mr. Thomas Alonsi was called to the Ghana Bar in 2003. He has also held various positions as a parliamentary candidate for Builsa North Constituency (2016), Regional Campaign Coordinator NPP Upper East Region, 2012 elections, and the District Chief Executive, Builsa District Assembly (2005-2008) under local Government. Mr. Thomas Kofi Alonsi is a Builsa who hails from Wiaga in the Builsa North District of the Upper East Region.

Mr. Kojo Asemanyi

Mr Kojo Asemanyi is an adroit public servant with a wealth of experience in Public Service and Administration. He has served as a Lead Consultant/ Technical Advisor for the Ministry of Trade, had a stint with Vision Fund, a subsidiary of World Vision Ghana (WVG), Millicom Ghana Limited now Airtel-Tigo, US Postal Services, Nixons Uniforms & Medical Wear, JILAC Group (Outdoor Advertising Company) and also a spell at Kwepa Technical Services.

A member of Ghana’s Parliament between January 2017 and January 2021, Mr. Asemanyi served on several Committees and held various positions, including being elected as the Secretary to the Young Parliamentarians Forum. He is an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast. He is currently the Deputy Director General (Technical & Operations) at Ghana Maritime Authority.

Mr. Yaw Akosa Antwi

Mr. Yaw Akosa Antwi is an alumnus of the University of Cape Coast and holds an MBA in Marketing from the University of Ghana, Legon. He is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants, the UK, and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, (ICA), GH. Mr. Akosa has been a corporate executive with over seventeen (17) years of commercial experience in Finance, Audit, Banking, and Telecommunication. Before joining Ghana Maritime Authority as a Deputy Director-General (Finance & Administration), He was the General Manager, Client Services at the National Investment Bank, Accra -Ghana.

He has special knowledge in the Digital Finance Industry and has managed areas of Project Management, Business Strategy, Mobile Money and E-Commerce, Audit and Compliance, SME Financing, Corporate and Development Finance. He has held key Management positions in Intercontinental Bank Ghana Limited (now Access Bank), Airtel Ghana Limited, and spearheaded various innovations in quality assurance projects.
