Governance and Leadership

The Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) is governed by a thirteen-member Board, which provides direction and supervises the Authority’s activities.

The Authority is headed by a Director-General, appointed by the President in accordance with Article 195 of the Constitution of Ghana. The Director-General holds office on the terms and conditions specified in the letter of appointment, and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Authority and the implementation of its programmes.

The Authority’s direction is set in its strategic plan, which is renewed every four years.
